I want to add a SWB bike to compliment my Xstream26. I need something I can transport easily. I find on trails with sand or loosely packed material my front wheel occasionally will slide around a bit and wonder how that would be with a 20 inch wheel on the front of a SWB recumbent. I'm thinking V-Rex . Dave

Sand or gravel is not your friend no matter what bike you're on... Do you use wide(r) tires when riding in that situation?

I would think a Rocket would be a good choice as well, but either way you probably want something with minimal handlebar/knee interference, for quick turn capability.

Perhaps even a FWD???

Thanks for the reply. I still have the stock 1.5's on the xstream. Given my mixed riding I think that to be best. I dug my DF mountain bike out and rode it a bit on some of the rougher parts. I was surprised how well the recumbent handles relative to the mountain bike. I may just invest in a roof rack.

At one time I owned a Rocket and the problem I had with the gearing is that it was too high for me. That 62 tooth chainring was a bit much. I changed mine to a 54-44-30 setup and liked it much better with that gearing. Randy likes to spec the bikes with that "Kansas" gearing and for a spinner like me it just does not work.
